Last Thursday, 5th May, the Glasgow Gaels got our Scottish League campaign off to a great start with an invaluable 1-15 to 0-03 victory over Tir Conaill at Lochinch Police Playing Fields, Pollok Park.
It was the first outing for the club’s new kit (pictures to follow) and the second half performance in particular saw the lads do it full justice.
The Gaels edged a cagey 1st half, as Cathal Heron expertly dispatched a penalty to leave breathing space between the sides at half time.
Highlight of the match was a rampaging 2nd half run from the full back line by Davie McLeod topped off with a belter off a point from beyond the 40. Davie was immediately substituted so he could receive his standing ovation.
A busy schedule lies in store next week with Dunedin Connolly’s (Edinburgh) away and Sands McSwineys (Coatbridge) at home next Tuesday and Thursday respectively and then the annual knees up at the Dinner Dance on the 14th in the Thistle Hotel, Cambridge Street, Glasgow.
